The Monster Ceilidh Band, which is based on Tyneside, was formed in 2008. Three of the band which played with the Orchestra were among the original members.
The Band seamlessly integrate electronic dnace music and computer-generated sounds with traditional music. Their pioneering mix of Drum’n’Bass with Folk Music has been endorsed by outstanding performances at festivals such as Bestival and The Secret Garden Party. The showcased their fully electronic ceilidh at the Cambridge Folk Festival, and the Band are in increasing demand abroad, have kept up a steady stream of recordings, have broadcast live on Radio 3, and managed to encourage diverse audiences from all over to get up and party.
